In the traditional fruit basket, we put the hard fruit in the bottom and soft on top, which means that the apples and pears will not be eaten before they’re rotten. Fruit ripens by the gas ethylene, but since the air around the fruit constantly is replaced, it lasts longer than under normal storage conditions. My fruit basket is made of 2 steel rings and a lot of rubber line, you can pick fruit right where you want. Why hide the fruit away, when it has such beautiful colours and pretty forms.
